Dr Raj Thakkar BSc(Hons) MBBS MRCGP MRCP(UK) Raj gained his neuroscience and medical degrees from University College London. During his vocational training in the Oxford deanery, Raj was the first registrar to win the national GP enterprise award. After completing his MRCGP, he worked as a senior GP registrar in cardiology and completed his MRCP. He has been a GP partner since 2004. Raj has developed a keen interest in writing and has published over 120 articles for magazines and websites including GP, MIMS, www.healthcarerepublic.com, GMC, BMJ AND MPS. He is also the doctor for Nursery World magazine and has written books on GPST Stage 3 and the CSA. He has been advisor to GP magazine and MIMS for 4 years. Raj has been involved in teaching for many years. He wrote and taught Pastest’s GPST Stage 2, GPST Stage 3 and AKT courses. He also teaches CSA skills in Buckinghamshire and appears regularly on the radio. Raj has recently written the MIMS consultation guide, which is a quick reference medical textbook that covers the RCGP curriculum and more, it's a must have when studying for the MRCGP. |
Dr Duncan Rourke MBBS MA MRCPCH MRCGP DOpth DRCOG DFFP Duncan teaches on the CSA course. He studied pre-clinical medicine and social anthropology at Cambridge before completing his medical degree at the Royal London hospital. After graduating, he spent a varied 10 years in hospital medicine. He worked as an SHO in ophthalmology, a registrar with membership in paediatrics, and completed specialist training in clinical genetics. Duncan completed the GP VTS in Oxford between 2007-2009, before starting as a partner at a training practice near Oxford. Duncan is currently developing a special interest in primary care genetics, and has particular interests in communication in the primary care setting and in teaching. |
